About Sevenoaks Weald
Sevenoaks Weald is a village and civil parish in Sevenoaks District, Kent. The village was formed out of the former parish of Sevenoaks, as it was known then, in 1894 and was previously known as ‘Weald’. One building in Sevenoaks Weald that is historically noteworthy is Long Barn, which is Grade Two listed and the former residence of Vita Sackville-West, a garden designer and writer, and diplomat, Sir Harold Nicolson. The house is believed to date from the 14th century and was later restored after being used as accommodation for farm workers, with a formal garden installed in 1915. The Bloomsbury Group, including writer Virginia Woolf, met at the house.
